LECTOR VOLUNTEER
GOAL OF POSITION
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during the celebration of Holy Mass. Lectors enrich the Mass experience and promote full, active, and conscious participation of OLPH Parishioners when the Word is proclaimed well - slowly, clearly, and with appropriate reverence.
RESPONSIBLE TO
Lector Ministry Leader, Ministry Liaison - Lectors, and the Pastor
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lector Ministry Volunteer will be responsible for:
- proclaiming the Word with skill and reverence, as scheduled or requested
- attending training and formation events for Lector Volunteers, as required
TIME REQUIRED
Lector Schedules are prepared 2 – 3 times per year, with special schedules required for Christmas and Easter Celebrations. Depending on the number of volunteers available, this role will require reading 1 - 2 times per month.
LENGTH OF COMMITMENT
1 year, renewable
TRAINING PROVIDED
Standard parish orientation, leadership, and ministry-specific training provided by Pastor and Lector Ministry Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS
The Lector Volunteer:
- Is a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church in good standing, and an active member of OLPH Parish;
- Has a love for the Word, and participates fully as a member of the Parish community;
- Demonstrates humility and a willingness to continue to develop, improve skill and technique, accept constructive guidance, and work on personal formation;
- Demonstrates the ability of serving collaboratively with others;
